From way back when I was little, I was fascinated by glass and the way you could travel deeply into it if you got your eye really close to it. I used to look into the edge of a thick coffee table top we had, and take voyages through the ever growing expanse that was hidden within.

Even before that, I had stumbled upon my first art glass piece, creating it from discarded nail polish and a glass soda bottle. I poured two colors of nail polish into a dirty soda bottle and swished it around and poured the rest out. Didn't look like much at first, but then the nail polish dried and I washed out the dirt, it looked fine. Like some masterpiece of injection molded plastic, it had swirls and bubbles and a very organic look from where there had been dirt in the bottle to resist the paint. I was amazed and puzzled at the same time. If I could guess, I would say I was six years old.

The landscape at the top of the page is oil on glass. It seems that more that twenty years would pass before I tried it again. I actually played with digital media for awhile trying to achieve this effect before just breaking down and making a mess.
